Wow, this good rate only lasted for a week. My 1 year ING CD recently matured (@5.35%) and the new rate is only 3.5%. Last year, I hesitated to put more $$ in the CD, because "I may need more liquid cash." Anyway, I asked ING to release the money back in my account for other opportunities...and this 5% deal came on broad last week. I started the application, and again fall into the thought of "How much to put in??" Definitely more than what I did last year, but as my emergency fund grew, I could really beef up this CD.
Well, I hesitated again and chose the lower amount. The fund did not transfer right away because they have to verify my savings account with the two small deposits, and today when I went back to verify the deposit, I noticed WaMu's website only says "4.5% for a 12 month CD"! I was worried that since I haven't funded the CD, I would be getting this newer, lower rate. Luckily, after I logged in, it showed me the original 5% rate, so I guess I will get it. It just surprises me how fast they change the rates!
