We have a general wedding budget set for now, but nothing is set in stone yet, including the date. My family lives abroad (thousands of miles away...not just Canada), and right now we are planning to have two weddings so we can satisfy both families. Neither of them will be huge, and in fact we are planning to do the one here in the U.S. in a park. However, the airfare and hotel are expensive no matter what one does. We also plan to stop in a 3rd city (my real hometown) for a reception, because my mom's family lives there and I have lived there for a few years since I was born. I haven't visited my hometown for a long time and would like to spend a week there for our honeymoon. It is starting to give me headache if I don't sit down and start looking at a budget, a target to shoot for, so that is what I did one night.
I have set the budget to be USD $10,000, all inclusive.
Huh?? That's probably someone's local wedding budget...
Well, I don't like the big ceremony and banquet, neither does my fiance. We are considering doing a picnic/brunch style buffet since we are likely to invite 75 - 100 people, and I would like to spend time with my friends in a more casual way. Plus, we just don't have that much money. Right now, our wedding is budgeted at a little over $2,500 which includes a partial contribution of $600 towards my parents' travel to the U.S.
Parents Travel $600
Dresses $300
Invitations $100
Park Rental $200
Ceremony Setup $200
Brunch (75 ppl) $750
Bouquet $50
Marriage License $100
Misc $230
Total $2,530
I will post the budgets for other wedding, and the reception at my hometown later. And of course, we haven't forgotten the rings!
